Happy Hour

Lily has decided every day after 3pm is her own version of a ‘happy hour.’  She eats.  A lot.  And does not sleep.  Until bedtime.  Which used to be 9pm.  But is quickly being moved up t0 8pm.  Because my arm hurts from holding her.  And my head hurts from her crying when I’m not.

Therefore, sometimes this mom needs a happy hour of her own.

Looks like the little lady has finally passed out!

Visitors

The little lady had some exciting visitors this weekend!

Luke, Darby, and Cooper.

We missed you, Reece and John!  Lily loved this crazy clan – she was smiling and cooing at everyone!

Girlie girl…

I accidentally had my camera on video and of course it’s the only smile I captured.

Weekend Fun

Friday night we entertained a few friends who were in town. I was so proud of myself – the house was clean, the baby was bathed and dressed, I was showered and cleaned up myself, and Lily and I had made a trip to the grocery to obtain all the ingredients for dinner. I was doing so great and felt like SuperMom!

Until I realized that I had forgotten a few things at the store. Yep, I forgot everything for the main course…hamburger, buns, ketchup, cheese, etc.

So I called Ryan, explained my mommy-brain moment, and sent him to the store after work. And guess what he did…he came home with everything I asked for. Except hamburger and buns. Glad to know I’m not the only parent losing my mind.

At least my pasta salad and strawberry shortcake turned out well!

Saturday Ryan and I enjoyed an adult only night on the town while Nanny babysat the little lady.

Miss Lily spent the weekend being a busy seven week old….going to church; cuddling with Dad; brunch with Auntie M, Casey, and Nanny; more cuddling with Dad.

Progression of a smile

Poor pic quality due to the little lady deciding she would only smile for her Daddy…if I was anywhere near him when she was smiling, she stopped immediately and looked around for food (she gets that from me…food is always number 1 on my mind too!).

Do ya think she’s Daddy’s girl?!?!?!

Random

A few random happenings…….

On Friday, Lily had a lunch date with her favorite man, while I went for a pedicure.  I’m not sure who enjoyed her visit to the office more…Ryan or the ladies he works with!

Auntie M took us gals out to dinner Saturday night while Ryan was helping his brother and family move.  Miss Lily shows off how spoiled she is with her “My Auntie Loves Me” onesie.

This girl loves her Daddy.

My unsuccessful attempts at taking a 6 week picture…Lily was not cooperating!

Hopefully I will remember to take this same picture at significant milestones to show her growth….but with this mommy-brain, I make no promises.     :)

New Mom-isms – round 2

My first Mom-ism post was when Lily was two weeks and since then, I’ve discovered a few additional ones…

  • I have found myself rocking back and forth when Lily starts to cry…when I’m not even holding her. Or worse, standing in line at the grocery store rocking from one foot to another - Lily was at home with Ryan. Gesh.
  • Being absolutely furious at the car in front of us in the DQ drive thru – hello people, we have a crying baby and you have the nerve to order food in the drive-thru line instead of going inside!?!?!?!
  • When did I go from worrying about my outfit looking nice and clean to not thinking twice when I wipe spit-up or spilled milk on my shorts. Gross…
  • Showering takes on a whole new meaning. A girlfriend and I decided that there are actually three parts to a good shower – the actual bathing, putting on make-up, and drying the hair. If you get all three parts done, it’s a miracle and going to be a GREAT day.
  • Dang red stoplights….there should be an express lane for moms with babies! Gotta keep this kid moving!
  • Instead of thinking of 5pm as “whoaa, I’m off work!”, thinking “what time is Ryan coming home….hurry up, PLEASE!'”
  • Or instead of thinking of 8pm as time to catch up on DVR’d shows, it’s bath and bedtime!
  • Prior to Lily, we spent our free time doting on Lynnie and Elhers. Post Lily…..anyone want two well-behaved dogs….for free?!?!?!?!

Lily loves loves loves her swing (thanks Amanda, you’ve given us countless hours of peaceful, happy moments!).

My dad gives the BEST baths.

Just this morning, we saw Miss Lily’s smile.  While there have been a few moments where we are pretty sure she was smiling (and not just relieving herself :), this was different.  The little kiddo is one happy girl in the mornings, especially when Ryan plays and talks with her.  And today she was giving him these huge smiles over and over again….except whenever I walked over to see…then she immediately stopped and decided she was hungry instead.  Joys of being the mom and having the ‘goods’, I suppose.  We’ll do our best to get pics or a video soon for her grandmothers to see!
