A few favorites...

This pathetic pout is brand new in our household.
We think it's so cute, we laugh at her whenever we see it. Which makes her more mad, of course.

Lily is such a little talker. She continues to get more and more verbal each day. A few of our favorite sayings....

"Mommy ok?" - One night while eating dinner, I started choking. Ryan slapped me on the back, asking me if I was ok. Ever since then, Lily will come up to me, cock her head to one side, and ask "Mommy ok, Mommy you ok?" while gently patting my back. Sometimes she even gives me a big hug!

"Oh yea, I'm fine" - Her response when I respond to her sweet gesture with "yes Mommy's ok. Is Lily ok?"

"Hi ___ (fill in the blank with Ellie dog, her toys, her books, etc), I missed you!" - Almost every time we walk in the door, she apparently missed something greatly while we were gone.

"Daddy, I love you. Daddy, I miss you. Daddy, no go to work!" - Heard over the monitor before I get her out of bed. She will play and talk in bed for quite a while after she wakes up. When I finally get her, she always wants to know where Daddy is and if he had to go to work today.

"No, no, no, Mommy, I no want to" - She says while pointing her finger at me. Multiple times every flipping day. She must hear the word no a lot, huh?

"No Daddy! MY Mommy!" - Said whenever Ryan tries to hold my hand. Or give me a kiss or hug. Or shows any affection towards me. (She then shows us that cute pout!)

She is very strong willed, opinionated, and often stubborn. But also sweet, funny, caring, and such a blast to be around. We feel so lucky for our little talker.

Science experiment

A little vinegar and baking soda kept my busy toddler entertained for over an hour!

She started out slowly putting droplets of vinegar on the baking soda, and giggling while it sizzled and made small rivers.

But quickly decided that putting the powder into the cup was way more fun.

And messy.

Tongue sticking out is a sure sign of serious concentration.

Slimy. Sticky. Such fun!

Special visitors

A long overdue post about Nanny and Papa Kurt's visit!

Nanny gave me a very early Easter basket.
Inside was my first nightgown...

and a swimming suit for our upcoming trip.

We had such a fun weekend.
The gals did fun things like shopping and eating yummy food.
The boys went to a Royals spring training game.

We also celebrated Nanny's birthday, so got all dolled up for brunch.

Thanks for visiting your "cool" granddaughter. We miss you already!

Snapshot Monday

Weekly happenings via snapshots from my cell phone

My first nightgown!

Out to dinner, I discovered ketchup. And refused to eat anything else.

Dining outdoors means star watching with Daddy!

Tough loss on Saturday, but we still love our Cats!

Have a great week!

Go Cats!

When we heard K-State was playing the first round of the NCAA tourney in Tucson, we were thrilled. My parents had tickets but weren't able to make the trip, so we were the lucky benefactors. Thanks for the great seats!!!

Lily was a trooper and had a blast watching all the action. Her favorite phrase is currently "What's that, Mommy" which she must have asked 300 times within the first ten minutes.

A little boy in front of us was eating popcorn, and she of course asked "What's that?". When I told her, she said "boy eating popcorn. Lily wants popcorn!". I told her to ask her father, and moments later, she had her wish. (That's my girl...food is always top of my priority list too!)

Lily made her television debut as the game wrapped up with a Wildcat victory. She is our little good luck charm!

We'll be back on Saturday, cheering loudly! Keep an eye out for our famous toddler.

Our Picasso

Considering what the next brilliant creation might be

One must get a little messy when making serious art

What's cooking?

A few weekend's ago, Ryan woke up with an inkling to make Lily a big breakfast. His final concoction consisted of pancakes and scrabbled eggs.

Lily loved the pancakes. Eggs, not so much.

I appreciated the yummy breakfast too.
Why is it that when men cook, they somehow manage to use EVERY SINGLE dish, utensil, pot in the entire kitchen?
What a mess! :)
