3 months

August 31, 2009. I can’t believe another month has gone by and Lily is 3 months old! She is growing and changing every single day.

Lily 3 months

A few Lily observations:

* This month you have found your voice. Your dad thinks you got your ‘gift of gab’ from him.

* You love your feet and hands and are constantly trying to put both in your mouth…along with toys, mommy’s fingers, and anything else you can grab hold of. Does this mean you are teething already (please tell me the answer is no! I’m not ready for teeth yet!)

* You are still a rockstar sleeper, with 10-11 hours being a very consistent night.

* When you were first born, Grandma O asked if you could have a pacifier, and I responded saying no, we were trying not to give you one. Grandma gave me a knowing smile and of course complied with my response. Well…..let me just say that Grandma O knew a thing or two about babies. And my new motto is “whatever works.” You take a pacifier anytime it is nap or bedtime, and life is such much better!

img_0411

* You are OBSESSED with your aquarium and stare at it while playing by yourself or doing tummy time.

* You are all geared up for the fall football season, decked out in KSU gear and already staring at the TV when your dad is holding you.

* You are just now showing interest in rolling over. In the past few days, you can get onto your side and almost the rest of the way to your tummy, but not quite yet.

I can’t believe how much you have changed in the past 3 months. We love you more than words! Happy birthday, Miss Lily!

Addicted

“Lily, whatcha looking at?”

“Leave me alone Mom, I’m busy watching my ‘TV’…”

img_0360

Oh dear, is it too young for her to be this addicted?

Newly discovered

Hey Ma, what are these things?

img_0365

Those are feet, Miss Lily.

img_0363

Interesting.  Where do they come from?

 img_0364

Well, feet are attached to your legs.

What?  Don’t tease me, Mom! Those are mine?  Like they are with me all time time?  Toys I can take everywhere?

img_0367

Now that’s pretty cool!

For the love of a daughter

I recently came across this blog, For the Love of Waverly. Molly is a friend of a friend, and Matt was in the same fraternity as Ryan. Through mutual acquaintances, I have kept up to date on their adoption journeys and recent struggles. Their story really pulls at your heart strings…particularly for me now that I’ve experienced being a mother. I can not imagine living with the threat of having my daughter taken from me and therefore felt compelled to share their story with you.

Rattled

“Seriously Mom, do you have to whip out the camera every time I do something new?”

img_0353

“Yep, I’m still holding my rattle….I know, I’m so smart. But please get that camera out of my face.”

img_0352

“And by the way, why am I laying on an old dish rag? What happened to all my cute blankies?”

Oops, must stop taking pictures and do some laundry…sorry Lily.

Splish, Splash…

Sneak peak at Lily as an 80 year old woman.  Wide rimmed hat.  Potbelly.  Moo-Moo without much needed full coverage.   Grouchy old lady.

Look at me, I’m doing the backstroke!

Lovin’ my Mema

Miss Lily visited her great grandmother, Mema, and was all smiles!  I just love seeing these two together –  I have such fond memories of my own great grandmother, Nanny, and feel so lucky Lily can experience this special bond.

Mema found this picture of my great grandmother, Rachel Woods Hutchison (aka Nanny), as a little girl.  There is definitely some resemblance to myself and Lily, though NO ONE has Nanny’s very ‘prominent’ nose…this picture does not do it justice!  :)

Birthday Bash

Lily celebrated cousin Liam’s 1st birthday this past weekend.

Anyslee loves to hold and kiss on me – and I love it too!

Hmmm, loving that first birthday cake!

Exhausted from all the activity.  Thanks Grandpa for cuddling with me!

"Do you think that's mustard"

A quote from Ryan while we were eating lunch, as he picked up Lily and noticed a yellow droplet on the floor. However, when he noticed another droplet on his big toe and a smear on his shirt, we quickly realized that it was in fact, not mustard.

"Do you think that's mustard", said with the infliction of slight panic and a glimmer of hope, is our favorite new parent quote.

Busy baby…

This past weekend, I was one busy baby…

I helped Dad do his laundry.

img_0281

I spent Friday night with Auntie M while Mom and Dad went on a date. Auntie M is my #1 babysitter!

img_0262

I went to my very 1st movie (We went to the 11am showing hoping for the least crowds. Mom fed me and I passed out for most of it!)

img_0264

I walked down to the Blue Moose and giggled at my mom throughout the entire dinner.

I socialized with a few friends while we all enjoyed a “bottle”

img_0283

And met my girlfriend Taya, who turns one this month. We love this little gal - she is the sweetest, happiest baby and will be a good role model for me!

img_0279

I relaxed while I watched Mom make dinner.

img_0287

and spent some quality time with my sisters.

img_0288

Now I’m exhausted and ready for my bath and bed

Happy 2 months

July 31, 2009. I can’t believe Lily is 2 months already.  Time is flying by way too fast and she is changing every single day.

Lily at 3 weeks in the same outfit – wow, she has grown!

A few Lily facts……

*You are sleeping through the night consistently with a ‘good’ night being 10-11 hours, and a ‘bad’ night being 6-7 hours.  Most nights are ‘good’ nights.   I attribute this to the amazing miracle blanket (thanks for the suggestion Vickie, I owe you!).

Miracle Blanket – Baby Swaddling Blanket – Beige

*You are smiling and cooing each and every day.  You think your dad is by far the funniest person as you give him huge gummy grins every morning when he wakes you up, and each night when he gets home from work.

img_0161

*You love long walks in the BOB stroller with Mom.  We go in the mornings and you normally either fall asleep or stare at me and coo.

*You are a very good eater, and only get fussy when you are hungry or tired.  You thus far have a very laid back temperament.

*You are starting to grip onto your burp rag, blanket, and toys.

img_0226 img_0223

*You have huge eyes and recently your long bleach blond eyelashes have turned dark brown – just like your mama!

*Your ‘schedule’ has recently changed.  You used to eat, play for 30 minutes, and crash for a few hours.  Now after 3pm, you take zero naps and want to be held until bedtime.  Cute at first but oh boy does mom’s arm get tired!

*Bath time is your favorite time of day.  Even when fussy and tired, you smile and talk the entire time.

*You no longer hate tummy time, but only last between 5-10 minutes before screaming.

We love you more than words.  Happy Birthday Lily!
